Baby Rose - 'To Myself' Album

I stumbled on this album like a thief in the night finding an extra gem when I only expected to find one. Last time I felt this exact way about a ballad album was when I found Kenneth Whalum's, Broken Land.

At first listen, it didn't click that it was a chick singing cuz I wasn't paying close attention to the lyrics...just her voice, which was velvety, haunting and vulnerable and I got lost in it for a while. Baby Rose's voice reminds me of Nina Simone, Sarah Vaughan and Billie Holiday...the perfect blend of butter, sugar and gravel.

The fact that #AllToMyself is her debut album, says a lot about who #BabyRose is as an artist at the tender age of 24.

Lyrically & melodically, All To Myself gets two thumbs up from me. This young lady sings the blues in the most beautiful of ways. I am connected to it and her for life.
